Step 1: Run the rope end down through the loop at the top of the cheekpiece. Push the loop up the rope to the appropriate height. Make sure the rope’s tail points away from your horse’s eye. Step 2: Pass the rope end behind the loop toward your horse’s eye, and thread it over the loop and under the rope, as shown. Create a loop if you want to make the excess tidier. Step 3: Check your work. The result is a knot that looks like an X with its tail pointing toward your horse’s shoulder. Note that rope halters sometimes stretch over time, and may need to be retied or adjusted after a few months of use. |
